Alain established Hannouche Associates’ Iraq office in 2010. With nearly two decades of experience representing regional and multinational clients, Alain specializes in Corporate Law, Banking and Finance, Energy Law, M&A, Corporate Governance, Labor Law, Insurance, and Taxation.

He has led numerous major transactions and projects across Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity deals, governmental concessions, and complex cross-border investments. He also advises on corporate structuring, taxation, regulatory approvals, and the establishment of banks and financial institutions.

Alain frequently serves as an Iraqi Law expert before international courts and arbitration tribunals, representing leading global companies in the energy, telecommunications, and construction sectors.

Although primarily based in Iraq, Alain has advised clients on transactions spanning multiple jurisdictions in the Middle East, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, and Egypt.

He is consistently recognized by The Legal 500, IFLR1000, and, multiple other resources as a Leading Individual in the Iraqi legal market.

Alain is fluent in Arabic, English, and French. He holds an Executive MBA from Harvard Business School (2020), an LL.M. in Corporate and Financial Law from The George Washington University Law School (2008), and an M.Sc. in Finance from The George Washington University School of Business (2009). He earned his LL.B. from Saint Joseph University, Beirut (2007) and is a member of the Beirut Bar Association and a registered legal consultant in Iraq.
